In my heart and in my cart + other things

In My Heart -

Oh man, Q2, what a rager! Time flies when we’re having fun, no? And doing the dishes, and keeping up on the laundry, and trying to get everyone where they need to be every day….etc etc forever and ever, amen.

+How long is a new job a new job? Is it at all relative to how long you spent at an old job? I guess the question is moot because it’s only been 3 months and that definitely still qualifies as new, but I am getting in the swing of things and my “new” job is starting to feel like just my job. I am finally feeling settled and like I sort of know what I’m doing enough to work independently, and fam that is a gift. I was humbled - old dogs and new tricks and whatnot.

+School is almost out for summer and then it’s on baby. It’s been warm enough to open windows here for the last two weeks or so, and it feels like summer is taking root. I snapped my laptop shut promptly at 5pm a couple nights ago and was on the beach with a cooler and a new book by 5:15. My 9 y/o did the first full body dunk in the lake and that officially breaks the seal IMO. This weekend we’re bleaching his hair in preparation to dye it Sonic blue for the second year in a row and he thinks this is cool mom stuff, but actually it’s a parenting hack. Do you know how easy it is to spot your blue-haired kiddo in a sea of little blondes and brunettes?

+In consumption news:

  • I spent a lot of time on planes and in airports, so I’m pretty up to date on some things I wanted to watch. I took in Marty Supreme which was alright. I don’t think I care enough about ping-pong to get really invested, but I do love an unlikeable protagonist! I

  • Speaking of unlikeable protagonists, I got really hooked on The Morning Show, watching the entire first season on a flight from Chicago to Barcelona a couple weeks ago. Might have to spring for Apple TV and hope for Alex to get what she deserves. So two-faced and mean to her lovely husband!

  • I’m currently hooked on Four Seasons. I was obsessed with it last fall and had no idea they were coming back with a second season - a surprise treat, indeed! I’m on episode two and have a rainy day ahead. I think you know what I’ll be up to.

  • Switching gears to music, I’m really enjoying Kacey Musgraves’ new album.

In My Cart -

+Walmart shoes. Wow, was not expecting that, but I’ve been so impressed lately. I picked up these pair of sneakers to have something to run around in without feeling too precious about keeping them nice and clean. I regularly cleared 20,000+ steps a day while traveling in these and they performed beautifully. I also just plain think they look good.

+Also interested in these sandals, and these $11 slides to just absolutely throw some miles on all summer long.

+DedCool Xtra Milkis my current daily driver fragrance and I just ordered the detergent. Oh sorry, dedtergent. Their processing time is forrrrrever, but I’m looking forward to really saturating myself in the scent. Will report back!

+Oh back to shoes again. Is it too late to go hard with the paracord trend? I really love these shoelaces.

+Two books on my wishlist: this one about the Windsor sisters, and this one about the Windsors and the Kennedys.

+Okay fun!

+Strongly considering making bedazzlingeverything my summer-long project.

Other Things -

+Recently read and deeply enjoyed. Condé Nast + the food world.

+15 things I refuse to spend money on from Marina Cooley was a fun read! Everyone has their thing, right? Ever since I got a UV light, you’ll never catch me spending money on a manicure.

+A “euro trip” through Ohio. This made me literally LOL. I’d do it for the novelty of it.

+Another thing that made me laugh out loud. What do you think it smells like?

+Honestly looks like a perfect way to spend the afternoon.

+Recently obsessed with Piki Designs -

Addendums -

A Week in Barcelona // a little travel diary from a gal who will wander anywhere and taste just about anything.

Recently Enjoyed on Substack.

The last batch of musings from way back in March. There was still snow on the ground back then! A lifetime ago!

Happy Weekending!
