In My Heart -

Back in July, my husband and I went to Chicago for a wedding. Along the way, we had to stop at a big outdoor mall because suddenly he was second guessing his intended outfit and wanted to basically buy a whole new get-up. I rolled my eyes, but since the mall had a giant Home Goods, I just took myself over there and wandered the aisles while he perused ties over at Nordstroms. Anyway, I found a pair of ghost shaped taper candles and even though it felt decidedly early to be shopping for fall (absurd, really), I grabbed them. They’d be gone by October!

Those ghost candles turned out to be the first addition to what would become the October box - a big old Amazon box that I started popping fall purchases into, because the purchasing folks at all my favorite home stores insist that it’s fall the day after the 4th of July. Over the next couple of months, I picked up things that were not at all seasonally appropriate and put them in the October box to be rediscovered at such a time when it was right. Everything in its time.

Yesterday, I pulled the box out of my closet and delighted in all the finds I had secured! Things I’d forgotten about! It was like free shopping. I had these striped tapers that pair nicely with the ghosts. Two snuggly blankets in brown and rusty orange to add to the living room rotation. A package of new socks. A pumpkin shaped candy dish. It was a nice example of past me taking excellent care of current me.

I’m keeping the box and in the next couple of weeks, as Christmas goodies start appearing on the shelves (sigh), I’m going to collect what I like and put it away until I’m ready to acknowledge the next season. Henceforth, the December box. What a joy for future me!

+Oh my gosh, I’m so excited to report out on this: I picked up this chrome powder last week for my nails and it is wonderful. V easy to apply and is just beautiful.

+Wow. These corduroy flares in a good eggplant-y purple are a dream.

+I mentioned that I ordered this Ginger Biscuit fragrance last week and I’m here to report out: I love it and I smell like Christmas. Will not be putting away in the December box.
