Little Upgrades
Yesterday, I spent the entire day at home, just putzing around. I did manage to venture out for a walk in late afternoon even though it was cold. The sun peeped out! And I couldn’t miss the chance to get some sunlight on my face. Who knows where my sunglasses are, so I just squinted my way down the road and soaked it up. A delicious serving of Vitamin D (I think?).
But other than that, I moseyed back and forth between my puzzle, completing a chore here and there, and laying on the couch with a book. I had meant to run out to the library and treat myself to a wander through TJ Maxx, but the urge never really struck. I think I needed a lazy day that also served as a light catch up day. I ran a load of laundry between placing “one more piece” in the puzzle. I pushed the vacuum through the living room. Etc etc. The progress I made on my puzzle was the real achievement. How is your weekend coming along?
This week, I’m thinking about little upgrades.
Maybe sexier versions of every day items that elevate a regular routine. Or maybe midday/midweek/midwhatever bumps that immediately make something feel special.
+Like this bluetooth radio that just looks nice. Mine sits in the kitchen and gives me the local news or plays my Spotify playlist. Whichever I’m in the mood for.
+Using my lunch break to take myself out for a real, sit down solo lunch at a restaurant. I order whatever I want and don’t have to share bites.
+The basil dishsoap from Mrs. Meyers. Makes doing the dishes an olfactory treat!
+Making time to stop for a fancy cup of coffee on my way into the office on Friday (or Monday!) mornings.
+At home, Lavazza. It’s not even that expensive, but can be hard to track down locally. The effort is more in remembering to order it and keep a spare bag stocked.
+Really really good beauty that actually does what it says it will. For me, NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder are worth every penny.
+Related: dysport.
+Buying the book. I’m a library gal through and through, so when I buy the book, wowwee, what a treat!
+Small good things, like getting early, before everyone else. Skipping dinner and having an ice cream cone instead. When someone else takes out the trash. Lighting the candle after a top-to-bottom house clean. Lovely little day upgrades, for sure!
What are you favorite life upgrades?
