Weekly Recs | August 16, 2026
A few things I enjoyed recently and maybe you will too.
It’s been a while since I’ve shared some weekly recs, but that’s mostly because I’ve spent my summer buying popsicles and 12-packs of Surf Sides to share. Not a lot that would be interesting to anyone else but me and the other people sitting around a bonfire or on the beach or in folding chairs in a garage. Is that a midwestern thing? The sitting in garages with the door open and the neighbors cruising by, sometimes wandering up the driveway to grab a drink and gossip for a minute?
But I haven’t been completely disassociated from real life. I’ve been reading and doing laundry and thinking about all the back-to-school stuff that’ll come to get me and the kids by the end of the month. So for now, you’ll find me pretending time isn’t real and summer is forever, but also I have a good back to share! And a new-to-me mascara that I’m loving. You know the drill :)

Old Navy Cozy Knit Clogs // Dare I say….a Rothy’s dupe? For….$40?!
Fleishman is in Trouble by Taffy Brodesser-Akner // Okay, hang with it because it’s a slow burn, filled with largely unlikeable characters, but if you’ve been married or had friends for a long time, I think it’ll resonate. I finished this book wanting to put more effort into all my relationships.
DedCool Dedtergent in Xtra Milk // Speaking of marriage, I met and married this scent earlier this year and we are going strong! I like to wash all my laundry in this detergent to really double down on it.
DedCool Milk // Please see the note above. I wish to emanate Milk from my pores.
Bubble Initial Paracord Bracelet // Another good dupe! This time I think it mimics everything I’m seeing from Baublebar, but for $11. I need to see how the gold tarnishes though. And for the record, Baublebar tarnishes in under a week so don’t spend the money!
Merit Clean Lash // My current go-to. Good, clean coats that last all day. A basic b, but sometimes we need that kind of girl!
Metal Tiffin Boxes - Rosie Assoulin x Target Multi // Okay do moms get a new lunchbox in August? This mom might!
Recess Mood // I don’t know if it’s placebo, but I really do think these wind me down a little after a stressful day at work. No alcohol, no THC, no mind altering nonsense. Just magnesium and adaptogens and wizardry. No weird or even good feelings - more like I can just calm down.
