In my heart and in my cart + other things

In My Heart -

Hey guys! Well, we’re officially more than halfway through January so that’s something. Although if memory serves, it’s the back half that feels like 1,000 days. I have yet to hit my winter wall (aka when I go into full FTS mode) and I’m carefully trying to stay optimistic. Fact is, we have three more months of this, you know? Stay cheerful is my mantra.

+The 2016 trend on social media. What do we think makes 10 years ago so special all of a sudden? Maybe I just love a round number, but it feels like the 2015 to 2025 jump would have made more sense. I’m not here to judge though because 2016 WAS a good year for me! I got pregnant and had a baby that year so every single picture I have is of my belly. Haha not jk. Furthermore, it occurred to me that I graduated from high school in 2006, had a baby in 2016, and so maybe the “6” years are life changers for me! Wonder what 2026 will hold because now I have expectations.

+Album a week progress. How’s your resolutions shaking out? I believe we’re past the point when people give up on the hard ones, right? I snuck three Oreos after dinner last night, so just know that any delusions I had about cleaning up my diet are already out the window. I am, however, chugging right along on my goal to listen to a new-to-me album, start to finish, every week. This week was Lana Del Rey’s Norman Fucking Rockwell. I forgot how much I immediately love pretty much everything Lana sings. Anyhow! I started a playlist to save my favorite songs from each album I listen to - I think it’ll be fun to have a giant list at the end of the year that sounds like 2026.

+Related, I heard a good idea on the Beautiful Mess podcast a week or so ago, suggesting a movie bucket list. I’m charmed! I swear, so many movies come out that I just never get to because I have little eyes at home that I swear, never go to sleep, so if it’s rated R, I just know I won’t be able to watch it for another ten years. I started a note on my phone with a list of movies I’d like to watch and maybe someday I’ll get to them, but surely I won’t forget about them in the meantime.

In My Cart -

+I bought these jeans from Old Navy while they were on sale for $19 and no regrets! Nice snug waist with a good, loose swing at the legs.

+Also from Old Navy, I officially have three pairs of these and I wear them constantly.

+Test driving this barrier soothing serum from The Ordinary. My January skin is dry-as-a-bone and I’m also searching around for something to lock in some moisture.

+Wow wow wow - this satin set in red feels spot on for February.

+I bought the sampler set late last year and landed on Jazz Club as my Q1 scent. It’s warm and spicy without leaning gourmand - I really love it.

+I’ve enjoyed toggling between Ulta and Sephora this week as they have competing skincare sales. Every day is a different feature. Worth a gander!

+Do we think paracord will still be cool this summer, because I’m very nearly persuaded by this basic number. It’s cute!

Other Things -

+Recently read and enjoyed so much. Promptly watched the movie.

+On deck to read next.

+Not my house, but I’d know my way around. Especially the Spellman’s.

+Getting amped for the Olympics! The energy is soo good for that couple of weeks when we’re all on the same side for once.

+Related, I enjoyed this retelling of the Tonya Harding / Nancy Kerrigan story circa 1994.

+Olive nails? I’m into it. Maybe going to give this a try.

+Things about my body that will never be hot from Mikala Jamison. You will cry-laugh, and maybe you will feel seen.
