A Little Bit of Shopping | Summer 2026
SHORT WEEK BAYBEEEEE.
Look, I know that Memorial Day is supposed to be the unofficial kick-off to summer, but when you live in a place that’s historically chilly in May AND the actual official solstice happened a week ago, it’s the 4th of July that feels like summer is finally here. Very regionally specific, but that’s where my head is at! I am ready for the kick-off to hot, sweaty, summer complete with the dog days and some slow, dragging afternoons. Ice cream for dinner. That kind of thing.
On deck for the week: Making a summer playlist to play over and over again that will forever remind me of summer ‘26. In the meantime, keeping this ambient one going: Summer 1949, Reading at the Lake. Doesn’t that sound like an absolute dream? Also, making a candy salad to nibble at all through the long weekend. Taking over the kitchen table with a festive fireworks scene puzzle. Buying sparklers and pop-its and smoke bombs. Slathering myself in SPF. Wearing red, white and blue. Windows open at night.
It’s summer baby and the livin’ is easy.
