A few things I enjoyed recently and maybe you will too.

I have the weirdest sense right now that I should be rushing, and I think it’s actually because, for once, I have nothing to rush over. I’m all out of sorts!

My job requires a certain sense of urgency, so I spend at least 40 hours a week with my senses somewhat heightened. Before I clock in, I wake up early to have an hour or so by myself, during which time I cannot waste a minute, because the very real deadline of my kids waking up and chaos ensuing is imminent. In the evenings, it’s the dinner, bath, bed sprint before I crash on the couch. On the weekends, if I have 10 minutes of quiet, I know it’s limited and very shortly, a shrill “MoooooOOOOM!” will interrupt.

So that’s my general mindset. Never enough time.

This morning however, my house is empty. My entire family is out ice fishing and I’m home alone, aside from the dogs, and yet - I cannot shake this feeling that I should be moving quickly. The body and the brain, reminding me once again that they don’t always communicate though they live in the same vessel.

Candidly, I don’t know how long this will last. I expect a call sometime midmorning to rescue the kids who will certainly be cold and miserable, but for now, I’m just trying to enjoy and coax my head into knowing we can just relax, even if it’s just for a few hours.

Images are links!

billie Detox Body Wash // The most delicious and invigorating scent. Eucalyptus forward and reasonably gender neutral without leaning masculine (and I find “neutral” to often mean). Just a good, clean smell for all.

Crosley Bluetooth Radio // A Christmas gift I got for myself and boy have I been enjoying it! It plays AM/FM radio and also connects to my phone via bluetooth. It feels so 90’s to have a radio station playing while cooking dinner and explaining to my kiddos that you don’t get to choose the song on the radio is hilarious. Remember the days when you just listened to whatever was playing?!

Election by Tom Perrotta // Picked up at the local used bookstore last weekend and I read it in two days. Honestly, I had no idea this was a book! I’ve seen the movie (and promptly rewatched it) and it’s another fun return to 90’s culture. Tracy Flick is running for class president and very nearly loses her GD mind when the social studies teacher, Mr M encourages a lovable jock named Paul to run against her.

Fluffy Earmuffs // It’s cold outside but must we also be freezing? I think not and might as well make our ear protection cute.

Medicube Zero Pore Pads // I’ve been so pleased with these! I definitely still have pores, but my face looks so bright and clean when I use these!

Old Navy WOW Wide Leg Jeans // I scooped these up while they were $19 last week and I’m so pleased with them. Snug and well fitted at the waist, with loose, swingy legs. I think come spring, they’ll look great with wedges (do you think those are coming back too?!)

Replica Jazz Club // I bought the sampler kit last November and worked my way through 10 of the brands best sellers before landing on Jazz Club as my Q1 scent. It’s warm and spicy without leaning too gourmand. I really love it!

Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer // For my $13, there is nothing more effective than this unfussy basic. My skin leans so bone dry in the winter and this is really doing the trick to keep it from becoming flaky (I know! Gross!)
