Weekly Recs | June 7, 2026
A few things I enjoyed recently and maybe you will too.
Happy June! One of the best months of the year, IMO. I read recently that June is the Friday of the year and boy, do I agree! It’s the front end of summer, before we’re all sticky and sick of being hot. June is effectively 5pm on a Friday afternoon when all the best that summer has to offer is still in front of us and baby, that weekend is looking good.
Weekly High: So many things, really. I’m feeling settled in at work. I’m home and not traveling after a very travel heavy May. The weather has caught up with the calendar and it’s consistently warm. Windows open! I’m reading a good book after reading a few back-to-back good books. I just feel like I’m in a good groove and I’m very content.
Weekly Low: I made and kept a dentist appointment which is a win, but learned that I have a problem tooth that needs to be fixed immediately. Luckily it doesn’t hurt or bother me at all, but I’m annoyed. Mostly at myself for not being more diligent about attending routine visits. Probably could have been caught six months ago before it was a real emergency and I literally cancelled that appointment for the lamest scheduling reason. Oh well, lesson learned.

Save Me the Plums by Ruth Reichl // A BTS look at the making of Gourmet Magazine from it’s last editor, Ruth Reichl. I’d say it’s perfect if you enjoyed Ina’s or Stanley’s memoirs - one part food, one part business. Delicious!
Crochet Mini Bag from The GAP // She’s tiny, but isn’t she cute? Very on brand for early summer and the entire week of the 4th.
Madewell Paracord Shoelaces // Is it too late to get on board with the trend? Hope not because these are such a fun, small way to inject.
Physicians Formula Bronzing Drops // TIBAL says these are a dupe for the Victoria Beckham drops, and that gal never lies. For $11, I’m willing to try it.
Clear Pencil Case // A real hack for packing liquids in your carry-on. Keeps everything organized and see-thru for the security folks, while the rigid edges keep it all safe.
Squatch Coconut Castaway Buffing Soap Bar // I’m on the hunt for a good buffing bar that doesn’t cost $30. I tried the expensive one and it’s fine, but there’s gotta be a more economical option, you know? It’s not like, advanced technology or anything. I’m test driving and this is my current option. Smells summery without leaning too hard towards SPF. The buffing is rather light and soft.
Baby Blue Rubber Slides // A nice $11 dupe for the spendy Madrids that I’ve been salivating over for two years. Great for the beach!
Time and Tru Suede Tan Sandals // And while you’re perusing the Walmart shoe aisles (can’t even believe I’m saying that!) these are a classy pair that look more expensive than they are.
